TAP: Contains tap technique, no pre-recorded tap sounds should be in music

JAZZ: Contains jazz technique
(no acrobatics, this includes tumbling, however TWO HAND CARTWHEELS ARE ALLOWED. If there are acro trics in a Jazz routine a 1 mark deduction per trick, PER ADJUDICATOR will be applied.)
LYRICAL: Must tell the story of the music while demonstrating emotion, balance, extension, control and technique

HIP-HOP: Contains contemporary dance styles (freestyle, street dance, funk, music video type dances)
BALLET: Contains ballet technique while incorporating classical movements
(no acrobatics allowed)
POINTE: Contains pointe technique and pointe shoes using classical music
(no acrobatics allowed)
CONTEMPORARY POINTE: Contains Pointe technique but the style is
non-classical
CHARACTER BALLET: A routine utilizing majority of ballet technique to portray a character
(no acrobatics allowed)
CONTEMPORARY BALLET: Contains Ballet technique but the style is
non-classical
ACRO: A routine using controlled moves such as walkovers, limbers, handstands, chestrolls, illusions, etc. Routine must contain choreography and dance steps
(60% acrobatics, 40% dance)
OPEN: A routine that contains any combination of dance which does not fit in any other category (no trick limitations)
MUSICAL THEATRE: A routine that interprets a character throughout. Lypsching is permitted. Any form of dance is permitted
VOCAL: Routines must consist primarily of vocals. No microphones are to be attached to the Luv 2 Dance Competition sound equipment
SONG & DANCE: Routine must consist primarily of vocals and dance. 50% of routine must be dance. Back up vocals are permitted. No microphones are to be attached to the Luv 2 Dance Competition sound equipment
MODERN: Routine must execute creativity and expression of music through modern technique
PRODUCTION: Routine must contain 10 or more dancers/competitors. Routine can contain any style of dance but should offer production quality with a story line that is portrayed throughout the entire dance. THE TIME LIMITS FOR PRODUCTION MAY NOT EXCEED 15 MINUTES INCLUDING PROP SET UP. IF ADDITIONAL TIME IS REQUIRED PLEASE CONTACT THE STUDIO DIRECTOR BEFORE THE ENTRY DEADLINE.
